Exploring minibeasts around the pond and in the rivers. Students had to find and identify a range of different animals. They had a very fun and wet day.

Exploring The Big Pit - a coal mine that 90es metres underground! We hiked for two hours and we had a great picnic with amazing views on top of a mountain. We are really enjoying ourselves.

After our evening meal we have been enjoying our time outside in the garden and in the common rooms in the house. The weather has been fantastic today and it didn’t get dark until it was time to get ready for bed. Mr Greeley opened the tuck shop tonight and enjoyed being in charge behind the counter again.

Today we walked up Sugar Loaf mountain. It was a huge struggle to start with, but with some great encouragement and teamwork, we all made it to the top!

The Pendarren pond is teeming with minibeasts. We were amazed at how many newts we managed to catch in our nets. When we moved down to the stream our catch was mostly small insect larvae. 

Canoeing was so much fun. We worked together as a team so well to lift and carry our canoes. The paddling was hard going at times but we dug deep to travel along the canal together. At the very end of our session we could choose to jump in. Most of us just couldn’t wait. 

Today we went looking for fish, crabs, starfish and shrimps in rock pools. Take a look at some of the things we found!

We also completed a coastal walk and battled against the wind. One student said, “I really enjoyed seeing the ocean from different view points and where the ocean cut out some of the rock to form a hole in the rock.”
