Who we are and what we do
Our school council has representatives from Years 2 to 6. Children vote for a boy and a girl to represent their class at the beginning of the academic year.
We have a very important constitution that we all follow as school councillors. We discuss this and understand the different parts of the constitution.
We listen to people’s ideas and discuss them every two weeks, on a Friday, during lunchtime. We meet for lunch in the hall and then move to the library for our discussion.
We follow an agenda and make sure that everybody who wishes to speak can do so in a positive and encouraging environment.
At the end of our discussion, we may sometimes vote for an outcome which will then be taken to Key Stage meetings, where we will talk about the issue with our teachers.
Every term, we meet with Ms Shah, our head teacher. She asks us what we’ve been talking about and, together, we make important decisions about how to move forward in our school.
