Secondary School Open Days
Over the next few weeks a number of local secondary schools will be running open days and/or evenings for prospective parents. Open Days provide a great opportunity to find out about the schools you will be applying for. Yell-os V Pinkies
We are very sorry to say goodbye the brilliant Yellow and Pink classes in Year 6 who are on their way to secondary school. They did, however, go out in style with a fantastic leavers' assembly which included this incredible video directed by our Chair of Governors, Andrew Bethell.

Music Teacher Job Advert

Earlsmead School Sports Day
Come and join in celebrating all our sporting talent on Wednesday 10th June for our annual Sports Day!
KEY STAGE 2
Key Stage 2 children will be at Markfield Park participating in traditional sports day games, including; wheelbarrow, sack and relay races.
We’ll also be having a picnic in the park, followed by adult and teacher competitions.
Please bring children to school at the normal time (8:55) in their school PE kit, with a bottle of water.
KEY STAGE 1
Key Stage 1 will have opportunities to race too, whilst also traveling around a basic assault course using our fantastic climbing frames in both playgrounds.
Children must come to school at the normal time (8:55) and must wear their school PE kit.
Please also provide children with water for the day in order to keep them hydrated!
We look forward to having a really fun and exciting time!

Half term holiday
The school will be closed for the half term holiday from Monday 25th May until Friday 29th May 2015. The children will return to school at 8.55am on Monday 1st June 2015. Thank you for your continued support as we approach the last half term of the academic year.
Eastern European Easter
This year's Easter celebration was focused in how some of our pupils celebrate Easter in Eastern Europe. We were fortunate to have staff and parents who told us how in Poland, Romania and Hungary they decorate and dye eggs for the occasion. We had a special assembly where all our Eastern European children and parents took part in singing and bringing in traditional foods.
School reopens on Tuesday 14th April
We hope you had a safe and fantastic Easter holiday! There is a staff training day this coming Monday so school will reopen on Tuesday 14th April for all children. See you then.
2015 phonics screening test
This Powerpoint is for Year 1 (and 2) Parents/ Carers wishing to know more about the 2015 Phonics screening test. It includes links to old past papers and videos. It also gives suggestions on how you may best help and support your child with this test. The test is a short, statutory assessment to ensure that all children in Year 1 (and Year2) are making sufficient progression the phonic skills to read words and are on track to become fluent readers who can enjoy reading for pleasure and for learning.
Bikeability courses
Haringey council have organised bikeability courses for children in years 5 and above, during the Easter Holidays. The training is free.

Fantastic Football Fortnight
Team Earlsmead has sadly come to the end of two fantastic weeks of Football writing! Our goal was to introduce our pupils and staff to a variety of genres, guests and authors linked to football and to get children motivated and inspired to write!
True to form, the children have reached that goal and have written a range of excellent pieces of writing including, debates, interviews, match summaries, trip recounts, football information books, narratives and poems. A selection of this good work, as well as photographs, will be published in our very own magazine!
We would like to thank all our guests who gave up a bit of time from their very busy schedules and came in to help us with this project. These include:

Rainbow laces campaign
During our fantastic football fortnight the staff at Earlsmead decided to wear rainbow laces. This was a show of support for the campaign to kick homophobia out of football.

Safer Internet Day 2015
Safer Internet Day 2015 is being celebrated globally today, Tuesday 10th February, with the slogan 'Let's create a better internet together'. There will be e-safety lessons taking part throughout the school, promoting safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology.

Turkish Caricaturist Visits Earlsmead
We were lucky enough to have a visit from famous Turkish caricaturist, Kamil Yavuz, last Tuesday. He did a workshop with both Year 5 classes on drawing cartoons and caricatures. It was a great session and the children really enjoyed it.
